Admission, Scholarships & Fellowships
Acceptance is very competitive. All applications to the Ph.D. and M.F.A. programs are automatically considered for Teaching Assistantship Awards. For our two terminal graduate degrees (the Ph.D. in Visual Studies and the M.F.A.), highly competitive applicants are eligible for supplementary stipends awarded by the offices of the President and/or Dean. Applications received by early January are automatically considered for College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Fellowships and (for Ph.D. applicants) Presidential Fellowships. Acceptance notifications are sent out in early March.
We encourage prospective graduate candidates to visit during the fall semester or after acceptance in the spring semester to see the facilities and to meet faculty, staff and graduate students in your area of interest. To arrange a meeting, you may contact a faculty member in your area of interest or contact the Director of Graduate Studies. Please arrange visits at least two weeks in advance.
