Hans Gindlesberger — NYFA Artist and Audience Exchange Sunday, April 26
1:00 pm to 3: pm
Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center.
On Sunday, April 26 Hans Gindlesberger will present an artist talk about his recent work as part of NYFA’s Artists & Audiences Exchange program. The presentation will also include the Buffalo debut screening of Keep Your Ear to the Ground, a short film produced in collaboration with several local musicians and performers.
Hans Gindlesber’s artistic practice considering issues of locality and displacement. He crafts an absurd response to rural decline by employing elements of theater and silent film in manipulating the authenticity of the photographic document. His recent projects have explored the space in between the still and moving image and grown to incorporate elements of video, sound, and site-specific installation. These projects and others are rooted in a need to recover a sense of belonging from a landscape that is increasingly in states of social, psychological, and physical flux.
Gindlesberger received his Master of Fine Arts in Photography in 2006 from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a 2008 fellow in Photography from the New York Foundation for the Arts.
Artists & Audiences Exchange (A&AE) is a NYFA public program that brings high quality multidisciplinary arts programming into local communities throughout New York State. NYFA Fellows partner with community-based organizations to make the contemporary arts available to a broad audience. All A&AE public service events are free of charge and open to the public.
A light brunch will be provided as part of the event.
