Careers in Art and Art History
Art alumni are prepared for a range of professions including and beyond the professional practice of art. Undergraduate Art alumni also have skills in creative problem solving, critical thinking, and an understanding of cultural context, which prepares them for employment in art galleries, museums, alternative spaces, and auction houses as directors, curators, preparators, installers, and art handlers, as well as in conservation, fabrication, grant writing, fund raising and educational programming.
An Art History major is ideal for students who wish to pursue a career in the arts, and it is equally valuable for those seeking to develop visual, analytical, and communication skills. Recent graduates have gone on to work in museums and art galleries, enroll in a variety of humanities graduate programs, and pursue careers in law, government, and business.
