Student Design Competition: BrandHack at UB, January 27, 2018

January 17, 2018  by: Dom

When: January 27, 2018 10am-4pm (lunch provided)
Where: UB Center for the Arts, Room 144

BrandHack, presented by AAF Buffalo, a local chapter of the American Advertising Federation, is an event where teams of 4–5 students assemble a creative campaign for a local non-profit. The students work together to create a logo, tagline, and a larger creative piece (a poster or billboard design) for an initiative that the non-profit identifies. At the end of the event, each student team presents their mini-campaign to the non-profit and two judges (local creative directors), and the non-profit is free to use the winning team’s assets as they see fit for their ongoing branding and communications. Each student team is captained by a local graphic design professional, and two creative directors will be judging the competition.

This year, the BrandHack non-profit is The Foundry, a small-business incubator focused on working with local low-income, minority, women-owned and neighborhood-based businesses.

The UB Department of Art hosted the 2017 BrandHack event. The client was Danceability, a local non-profit dance studio that services those with special needs between the ages of 3-70 years old.
