“Somatic Color”: Solo Exhibition by MFA Student Kyla Kegler Opens Friday 5/12

May 11, 2017  by: Natalie Fleming

Somatic Color, by MFA student Kyla Avery Kegler, will be on view at Ró Gallery, 732 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY, from May 12 to June 30, 2017.  There will be an opening reception on May 12th from 6-9PM.  All are welcome.

In this series of paintings, Kegler investigates a sensual relationship to color and form.

This study is part of an ongoing platform for applied and embodied artistic research that she refers to as Radical Softness.  Radical Softness is an experimental, philosophical position that pardons itself from the expectations of hyper-cerebral value systems tied to the industry of production.

Through the lens of Radical Softness, she seeks to facilitate autonomous, fluid spaces for dwelling in sensual perception that needn’t be validated by language.

Somatic Color is a material product of this radically soft process of inquiry.
