We often think it is simply advertisers who seek to highjack our dreams yet since the late 1940’s the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has spent one third of its annual budget on covert propaganda and mis-information throughout all media channels. Links between the CIA  and the New York Times, Washington Post and feminist leader come icon Gloria Steinem, are but a few to consider.

Weaned on television, raised on Saturday morning cartoons and MTV, western culture is engrossed in consumption – picture the snake that eats its own tail. This work seeks to understand the power of media and how those who generate it subtly create and manipulate the ways in which we see each other, our society and ourselves.

While we do not live in Orwell’s world of “thought police” one may question how our current society is controlled.
