Transmaterial: Material explorations in Art, Design and Architecture
UB Anderson Gallery, April 25th – May 10th, 2015
Curated by Alicia Marván
This exhibition provides an opportunity for Western New York emerging and established artists, designers, and architects to create new work using innovative materials currently being made worldwide. The materials will be selected from the book series and online resource library:
A catalog of materials that redefine our physical environment
By Blaine Brownell, Associate Professor and Director, Master of Architecture Program
University of Minnesota School of Architecture http://transmaterial.net
Local artists, designers and architects will be given the opportunity to access a sample library of such materials (partial selection), from which they will choose one material, and make a proposal for the creation of a new work. Selected exhibition participants will be granted a $200 stipend to purchase the materials directly from the manufacturer, for the making of the work.
Eligibility: Open to graduate students and professional artists living or working in Western New York.
We invite works in all formats and scales.
