Professor John Jennings to be Illustrator for Graphic Novel Adaption of Award-Winning Novel 'Kindred'

Professor John Jennings will be the illustrator for Abrams ComicArts’ graphic novel adaption of the 1979 science fiction novel Kindred. The author, Octavia Butler, was the recipient of a MacArthur Award and a Nebula Award, and twice won the Hugo Award.  Kindred tells the arduous tale of an African-American woman who is suddenly transported through time to a slave plantation in the antebellum South.  The adaption will be written by Damian Duffy and is slated for publication in Fall 2014. Duffy and Jennings have collaborated on projects in the past, including Black Comix: African American Independent Comics Art & Culture and the graphic novel The Hole: Consumer Culture.
