UB Visual Studies graduate students Alice Alexandrescu and Eduardo Velázquez are going to the Dominican Republic this December to run Go! Program, a series of creative collaborative workshops with kids seven kids in the community of Cabarete.Having a creative outlet is a vital part of our lives. Every kid is a genius. Go! Program is designed to give our kids a chance to use creative startegies to unlock their potential. Alice and Eduardo will connect skilled local creative people with kids to facilitate creative experimentation, spark inspiration and share technical skills in a positive encouraging environment.
Alice and Eduardo are coordinating with Alexis Mahon, an arts programmer at Mariposas Montesorri, in the impoverished rural community of La Cienega in Cabarete. With your help they will supply the kids with art supplies and food during our week-long workshops and activities. This is what makes your donation so important for this project.
The GO! Program developed from a series of conversations between Alice and Eduardo relating to their MFA Thesis projects in Social Practice at The State University of New York at Buffalo.
