Professor Joan Linder | Chronicle Q&A

October 27, 2011  by: Dom

“My Students and I Were Looking at the Nude Figure Every Week, but We Never See Death”

Q&A with Prof. Joan Linder, From The Chronicle of Higher Education, October 23, 2011:

I see quite a connection between the practice of life drawing and the practice of gross anatomy. Both are the study of the body with the unaided eye. One is looking inward, one is looking at the surface. Anatomy itself winds up becoming about learning a language, as everything becomes named and memorized. Their entire histories are connected, as well, in artists and scientists such as Leonardo da Vinci.
